In-House Dog Handler

Woofland is a premier dog daycare and boarding facility that offers a loving and safe environment for dogs. We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an In-House Dog Handler. This is an in-house position, meaning that accommodation will be provided, and you will stay onsite.

Woofland is a premier dog daycare and boarding facility that offers a loving and safe environment for dogs. We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an in-house Dog Handler. This is an in-house position, meaning that accommodation will be provided, and you will stay onsite.

Job Overview:

As an In-House Dog Handler, you will be responsible for the daily care and supervision of the dogs in our facility, ensuring they are safe, happy, and well-cared for. You will also assist with various tasks around the facility, including feeding, exercising, and cleaning up after the dogs. This role includes living onsite in a shared house with four bedrooms; you will have your own private room. You will work closely with other team members and volunteers who also live in the house as part of a work-in-exchange-for-accommodation arrangement.

Accommodation Details:

  • Location: North West Auckland, just 10 minutes from Albany Village.

  • Living Space: Semi-modern, clean house on a flatmate basis with private single rooms or a double room available.

  • Caring for Dogs: You might need to share your bedroom with dogs at night as part of your duties.

  • Weekend Responsibilities: You might need to stay at the facility during weekends based on a roster.

  • Support and Teamwork: You will work alongside your flatmates (who are part of a work-in-exchange-for-accommodation arrangement) to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

  • Environment: The accommodation is located on a serene farm nestled in nature, offering a peaceful setting.
     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care for both large and small dogs, including feeding, exercising, and ensuring their safety.

  • Perform basic dog washing to ensure dogs go home in a clean state (professional grooming is not required).

  • Monitor the dogs’ behaviour and wellbeing, intervening when necessary.

  • Maintain a clean and organised facility, including cleaning up after the dogs.

  • Assist with dog check-ins and check-outs.

  • Communicate effectively with other staff, volunteers, and dog owners.
     

Requirements:

  • A genuine love for dogs and a commitment to their care and wellbeing.

  • Previous experience in dog care is preferred but not required.

  • Reliable, with a flexible approach and positive attitude to work.

  • Basic communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Must have a valid work permit and full driver’s licence.
